What happens when a good show sells out. Why end a cash cow's life when you can give it the Terri Shiavo treatment in the theater? Instead of saving face and giving the series an actual ending David Chase sells out and sends us home with blue balls. Worst series ending ever. It was actually worst than I expected. I finally figured it out. The audience is lost not the characters. The only episode I have ever seen was the finale a couple of weeks ago. That's the big unveil. I am a Raimi fan and I liked the 1st two alot. Also, even Bruce Campbell's part wasn't entertaining. I could shoot BC on my cell phone in a banana suit and it would have been funnier than his part. Looks like Raimi cashed the check and cruised through the production high on pain killers and scotch.

Someone should have listened to The Kurgan from Highlander. "It's better to burn out than fade away."

I just got one of these and it is awesome. My new hobby is attacking the cat Airwolf style. It is meant to be flown indoors because it is so light. It can land in the palm of your hand. Do a search on Youtube for "Havoc Heli" for more examples of fun. Hit me up if you are cool and have or want one. WHoooooooooo! I can fly a helicopter just like John Carpenter!

This weeks horror tale comes from Japan. Issei Sagawa is a small and unattractive Japanese man who used to fantasize about eating women. He was particularly interested in Nordic women. He found these women large and beautiful, containing many of the qualities that he himself did not have. He thought he could demonstrate his love for a woman by eating her. He also felt she would be bound to him for eternity. Real Zen-type shit.

His first attempt came in the late 1970's when he attempted to break into a German woman's house and was scarred away. The woman was a teacher who was teaching him to speak German. His father was extremely wealthy and covered up the incident and sent his son away to Paris. Issei knew he had to plan his future attacks much better.

While in Paris he met Renee Hartevelt, a fellow student. She was everything he dreamed of. She was tall, beautiful, and of course, Nordic. He killed her and dissected her, eating various parts. Most serial killers/Cannibals have an intense sexual release when eating human flesh. Particularly in men, this is especially prone when eating the sexual organs.

He chopped up the remaining parts of her corpse and put them into suitcases that he had bought especially for this occasion. What was fucked up is that he left the suitcases in a park. He was arrested in his apartment on June 13, 1981. He was declared incompetent to stand trial and was incarcerated in an asylum. Four years after he killed and ate Hartevelt, he was sent back to Japan. When he arrived in Japan the French Government didn't indicate Issei was a criminal and a murderer. He was detained in a psych ward. Here he received a psychological evaluation and surprisingly passed. He was released to feast again.

Since his release, he has written four novels and many columns for tabloid magazines. He has also starred in several Japanese pornographic films. Sometimes I think its just America that is fucked up. Then I remember how fucked up Japan is. After all, they are the school girl panty people. SARS anyone.

Broken Promises: Taking Emily Back (1993) (TV)

I watched this shit until 3am. WTF. It was extremely disturbing.

The target audience for this film is women, and any woman who has ever had a child, wanted a child, or lost a child will cry over it. But men should also give it a chance, not just for the family themes that men in general ought to give more attention to or the aesthetic pleasure of looking at Cheryl Ladd (who is perhaps too beautiful for her part; her friend Ella, played by Polly Draper, is better cast--attractive but not exotically beautiful, and genuinely likeable in her small part). But men and women alike will appreciate the versatile Ted Levine as Gary Ward, Emily's father, who loves his wife and daughter but has just never figured out how to be a productive member of society. Though he has trouble controlling his temper, Gary is not really dangerous, and his vulnerability makes him a sympathetic character. The scene where he coaxes his wife (as undereducated and inept as he is) to come downstairs into his arms has an odd charm combined with pathos. The viewer feels that they belong together and need each other and that Pam (Cheryl Ladd) is wrong to try to keep them apart.

If you care about children and families, watch "Broken Promises" for the bittersweet story. If you don't care about those elements, watch it for Ted Levine's performance. Either way, it's worth your time.
